Why has my XLM withdrawal failed?
Last Updated 17 days ago

There are two main reasons why your withdrawal may have failed - you use an exchange and require a 'memo', or your XLM address is unfunded.

Your address is hosted on an exchange

If you store your XLM on an exchange (e.g. Bittrex) you may require a 'memo'. Currently does not allow you to enter a 'memo' when withdrawing. This is to prevent other users from withdrawing your balance to their exchange account by specifying their 'memo'.

To ensure that only you can access your faucet balance, when making a claim, include your 'memo' in your address in the following format:

e.g. GB6YPGW5JFMMP2QB2U...WOJPP57CANOF3/9359124d4a3b4adbb07

Combining your 'memo' with your XLM address will be required for all addresses requiring a 'memo'. Withdrawals to these addresses, where no 'memo' has been included, will fail and will not be refunded!

Alternatively use an exchange that provides users with a unique XLM address or download the Stellar Wallet to create your own personal XLM address.

Your address is unfunded

XLM addresses require a minimum of 20 XLM to be valid. This is a requirement of the Stellar system - there is nothing we can do to change this. In the future, this minimum limit may be decreased by Stellar. This is entirely up to Stellar and is outside of our control.

Withdrawals to a XLM address containing less than 20 XLM will always fail.

If your XLM address contains less than 20 XLM - don't worry! You can still claim from the faucet, but you will have to build up a big enough balance to cover the 20 XLM requirement. For example, if your XLM address has 0 XLM you will have to wait until your faucet balance is 20 XLM before you can withdraw. If your address has a balance of 5 XLM you will have wait until your faucet balance is 15 XLM before you can withdraw, and so on.

This does not apply to exchanges that use a single address combined with a memo (e.g. Bittrex)

If you do make a withdrawal and it fails due to your address being unfunded your withdrawal will be refunded :)
